The Seymour Middle School “B” girls’ basketball team ended its winless start to the season with a pair of victories last week in road action.

The Tigers recorded their first win of the campaign on Monday, Sept. 28, with a narrow 13-12 victory at Marion C. Early of Morrisville.

Seymour led 11-2 at halftime and held on for the win.

Makaila Crawford was the top Tiger scorer with 6 points.

Adding 3 points each were Maggie Akers and Chloe Johnson.

Addysann Baker rounded out the scoring with 1 point.

The next night, Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Fordland, the Tigers fell 21-8.

Fordland’s Eagles led 10-2 at the half.

Akers was Seymour’s leading scorer with 6.

Crawford and Johnson each had 1 point.

Last Thursday at Springfield’s New Covenant Academy,

Seymour led 12-5 at halftime en route to a 16-8 win, which improved the team’s record to 2-4.

Johnson had a game-high 8 points.

Akers scored 4.

With 2 points each were Crawford and Taylor Cantrell.

“With each game, this group is getting better,” Seymour coach Derrick Jessen said.
