The Seymour High School boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams both are in action over the Christmas break.

It’s likely each team will play four tourney games.

Seymour’s boys are in the Walnut Grove Holiday Classic, where the Tigers are the No. 2 seed in the 16-team event.

In the first round, the Tigers won (73) against No. 15 Fair Play (30).

This game was played at the Ash Grove High School gymnasium. All other tourney games will be played at Walnut Grove.

Seymour’s next matchup in the second round is against No. 7 Macks Creek.

That contest arrives at 6 p.m. today (Monday night.)

Semifinal action is set for Wednesday, Dec. 29, with final-round play on Friday, Dec. 31.

The Tiger girls likely will play four games in four days.

Seymour’s first game at the Mountain Grove Christmas Tournament arrived at 9 a.m. today (Monday) morning against No. 9 Cabool.

The Tigers are seeded eighth in the 16-team tourney.

Win or lose, Seymour plays the next day (Tuesday) at 9 a.m. versus No. 1 Salem. Seymour lost its tourney opener, 56-52 against Cabool.

Tourney games also are set for next Wednesday, Dec. 29, and Thursday, Dec. 30.

Complete tournament brackets for each event are available at no charge upon request at the Webster County Citizen office, located on the west side of the Seymour square.

The Seymour boys entered this week with a 6-1 record, while the Tiger girls are at 6-2.
