Success arrived late last month for the Seymour Middle School boys’ cross-country squad.

The Tigers, coached by Beth Johnson, placed second as a team at the Hermitage Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 25.

For the accomplishment, the team received a plaque.

Members of the runner-up squad included Matt Brauer, Easton Caswell, Wyatt Caswell, Colton Harris, Will Heil, Ryan Leonard and Cash Yates.

Leading the team was Wyatt Caswell, who placed 16th in individual competition with a time of 14:14 on the course’s 2-mile layout.

He earned a medal for the achievement.

Other Tiger times were Leonard in 14:57, Harris in 15:07, Easton Caswell in 15:48, Heil in 15:58, Yates in 17:10 and Brauer in 17:11.

In the varsity boys’ race, senior Bryson Benson was the top Seymour finisher with a time of 19:27 on the 3.1-mile layout. He finished 19th individually and earned a medal, Johnson noted.

Other Tigers in the high-school varsity boys’ race were Daniel Akers in 21:38, Samuel Lang in 25:25 and Kenneth Lang in 27:06.

In the varsity girls’ meet, Elizabeth Lang led the way for Seymour with a time of 25:08. Next was Mackenzie Roderick at 28:53.

The final Seymour High School finisher was Andrew Simpson, who covered the 3.1-mile course in a time of 39:22 in the junior-varsity race.
