Despite a strong first half, the junior-varsity boys' basketball team from Seymour High School fell by a 45-26 count at Hartville last Tuesday, Dec. 14.

The game was tied at 19-19 at halftime.

"We came out slow in the second half, didn't look good offensively, and Hartville took advantage of it," Tiger jayvee coach Riley Simmons said.

"A tie game quickly became a game where we were trailing by double figures."

Seymour's record fell to 3-2 with the defeat.

Two days later, the Tiger mark was at 5-2 entering the Christmas break after a pair of wins in tourney action at Norwood.

Against Hartville, 5'6" freshman guard Derek Helms led Seymour with a game-high 17 points.

Thirteen of his points came in the first half.

Junior Cooper Bunch scored 6. Sophomore Luke Rasmussen had 2 points, while freshman Wyatt Ellison added 1 point.

Next action for the Tiger jayvee arrives in the new year at The Seymour Bank Holiday Classic, which starts Monday, Jan. 3.
