The Fordland varsity girls’ basketball team is the No. 12 seed at the annual Walnut Grove Holiday Classic, a 16-team event set to started Monday.

In the tourney’s first round, the Eagles of coach Kevin McDaris take on fifth-seeded Ash Grove.

The Eagles fell late Monday in the first round of the tournament.

Fordland lost 63-21 to Ash Grove, the fifth-seeded team.

Next action for Fordland is at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) against No. 13 Hurley.

The final two rounds of tournament play are set for Monday, Dec. 28, and Wednesday, Dec. 30.
