Seven boys’ and girls’ basketball players from southern Webster County schools Fordland and Seymour were named last week to the all-Summit Conference teams in voting by the league’s coaches.
From Seymour, five Tigers earned all-Summit accolades.
On the first team were 6’5” senior forward Dylan Henry and 6’0” senior guard Chade Noble.
Named honorable mention was 6’2” senior guard Kason Richards, who earned the highest number of votes outside of the first team.
Two Tiger girls were honored.
They included 5’7” senior guard Lillie Rasmussen and 6’1” sophomore forward Addison Ridenour.
For Rasmussen, it was the third time she has been on the all-Summit first team after earning the same accolades after her sophomore and junior seasons.
In the 2022-23 season, she averaged 18.5 points and 5.7 rebounds. She also had 92 steals and 58 assists.
Noble also is a three-time selection on the all-Summit squad. He earned honorable-mention honors after his sophomore season at Mansfield. The past two years, Noble’s been a first-team selection at Seymour.
This past season, he averaged 13.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3 assists. He also nabbed 78 steals.
Ridenour earned first-team honors for the second consecutive campaign after being recognized as a freshman.
As a sophomore, Ridenour averaged 11.5 points and 6.9 rebounds. She led the Tigers with 44 blocked shots.
Henry and Richards are first-time honorees to the all-Summit basketball team.
In a breakthrough senior season, Henry led the Tigers in scoring at 18 points per game and in rebounding with a 7.8 average.
He blocked 51 shots and set a new school record in field goal percentage at 68.4 percent (211 for 310).
Richards, often called “Seymour’s Swiss Army knife” for his versatility, posted averages of 8.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and a team-best 5.1 assists. Offensively, he posted a rare “triple double” on four occasions as the Tiger boys finished the 2022-23 campaign with a 19-8 record for the second straight season.
Fordland had a pair of all-Summit Conference first-team selections during a magical season where the Eagles won 21 games and advanced to the Class 2 quarterfinals.
They were third in league play with a 4-2 record.
The Eagles’ first-teamers were 5’6” junior guard Emma
Trotter and 5’7” sophomore guard Kenzie Haskins.
Trotter was a first-team selection last season.
This season, she averaged 12.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.9 steals and almost 4 assists per game.
Haskins, an honorable-mention selection last year as a freshman, finished the 2022-23 season with averages of 12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.8 steals. She hit a team-best 75 shots from three-point range.
