I had a few extra minutes today, so I decided to scout out the site of the city of Seymour’s annual fall citywide cleanup here at the electric shed between Division and Frances streets.
When the event starts on Saturday, Oct. 3, I plan to be the first one here, taking advantage of this free service to all businesses and residents located inside the city limits.
It really baffles me why those who really need to utilize this service don’t stop by.
Maybe they have a connection with the old television show “Sanford & Son” and want their residence to resemble the abode of Fred and Lamont. Perhaps they think that if enough junk accumulates in their yard, they can call it a scrap yard and never have to mow again.
My bet is that laziness prevails. That’s typically the case when homes start looking like the apocalypse has arrived.
I’ll remind everyone that the citywide cleanup continues through Sunday, Oct. 11.
For those too lazy to mark the dates on their calendars, ask your neighbors for help, as they’ll keep you posted for the betterment of your neighborhood.
