Funeral services for Earnest Calvin Young Sr. of Seymour were held Tuesday, Jan., 12, 2021, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour.
Burial followed in the Gentry Cemetery, under the direction of the funeral home.
Mr. Young, 79, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, in his home.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1941, in rural Diggins to George and Beulah Gladys Cook Young.
On June 30, 1969, he married Jacqueline Sue Barton.
He worked at the old apple house in Seymour and then hauled milk for Carnation and Mid-Am.
He was a mechanic by trade — a certified “car nut.”
Before owning and operating his own business, Young’s Country Garage, he worked for Donnie Fann and Alan McAnally. He worked at O’Neal Auto Works in Springfield for about 10 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his infant son, Earnest Kevin Young; his 5-year-old stepsister, Juanita Lynn; his sister, Charlene Cantrell and husband David; his brother, Bill Young and wife Joyce; his nephew, Donnie Cantrell; his three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Burks, Barbara Jean Smith and Alice Barton; a brother-in-law, Sam Barton; and Lisa’s mother, Wanda (Johnson) Young.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie, of the home; his daughters, Linda Davis and husband King of Seymour and Debbie Laughlin and husband Paul of Diggins; his son, Earnest Calvin Young Jr. and wife Orliena of Diggins; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Linda Fann and husband Norman of Diggins.
