An Amish teenager sustained minor injuries last week in a truck-versus-buggy accident north of Seymour. Cpl. Casey A. Jadwin of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the 7:01 p.m. accident last Wednesday, Sept. 29, occurred when a westbound 2009 Amish horse-drawn buggy, operated by a 16-year-old male juvenile, “crossed the highway’s center line and struck” a southbound 2008 Dodge truck driven by 41-year-old Heath A. Long of Seymour.
Neither Long nor the 16-year-old Amish driver were injured, Jadwin’s report said; however, a 14-year-old passenger in the buggy, also a male, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by a private vehicle.
The buggy was left at the accident scene about four miles north of Seymour on Highway C, while the truck was driven from the scene.
