A two-vehicle accident last Thursday afternoon on Dillon Road, located six miles southwest of Seymour, left two with minor injuries.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Cpl. David L. Johnson said in his radio report that the 1:45 p.m. accident occurred when a northbound 2007 Dodge Ram truck driven by 25-year-old William D. Pierce of Nixa “slid across the roadway and struck” a southbound 2007 Pontiac G6 car driven by Lane R. Owens, 20, of Seymour.
Johnson’s report said Pierce’s truck “traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a mailbox, fence and a corner post.” The rural road was slick due to recent ice.
Owens, who wasn’t wearing his seatbelt, the patrol said, sustained minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Also suffering minor injuries was 26-year-old Whitley E. Andryeyev of Springfield, a passenger in Pierce’s truck, who was taken by ambulance to Cox South.
Pierce was wearing a seatbelt, the report concluded, while it added that Andryeyev wasn’t wearing hers.
Both vehicles were towed from the accident scene by Yates Boys Towing of Seymour.
