Here are your 2021 Seymour Apple Festival contest winners

Here are the winners of the various 2021 Seymour Apple Festival contests, which were held last Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Winners in the Pet Show held Thursday evening were:

1. Gunter and Halueb Johnson and with their bearded lizard, “Spike.” 2. Ayda Hennegar with her English Bulldog, “Pimms.” 3. Elena Mitchell and her Irish Setter,“Tyson.” 4. Ryder Mitchell and his pony, “Buttercup.”

Winners of the Friday night’s Apple Princess Contest were:

2021 Apple Princess, Chaney Watson; first runner-up, Taylor Cantrell; second runner-up, Allysann Baker, third runnerup; Keirsten Akers; Miss Congeniality, Elianna Wallace.

Winners in the Johnny Appleseed Contest were:

Ages 3 and under — 1. Hagen McNish. 2. Jaxton Tyler. 3. Kash Hall. 4. Rhett Lucas. Ages 7 and up — 1. Vivien Black. 2. Violet Black.

Winners in the Decorated Bicycle Contest were:

Ages 5 and under — 1. Lane Cook. 2. Ayla Hennager. 3. Rhett Lucas. 4. Calliope Cassell. Ages 6 to 8 — 1. Kyndal Strickland. 2. Alice Hennager. 3. Bentley Lucas. 4. Caleb Cassell.

Ages 9 and up — 1. Laney Myers. 2. Lillyanne Denney. 3. Vivien Black. 4. Kelbe Strickland. A special award for patriotism went to Carter Strickland.

Winners of the Turtle Races were:

Ages 5 and under — 1. Miller Owens. 2. Aviah Barlow. 3. Rhett Lucas. 4. Alissa Scott.

Ages 6 to 9 — 1. Wyatt son Helms. 4. Kaitlyn Scott.

Ages 10-12 — 1. Corbyn Bennett. 2. Keagen Johnson. 3. Colt Wallace.

First-place winners in all three divisions each received $25 from the Webster County Citizen.

Grand champion turtle race — 1. Kylah and Wyatt Harris.

In this race, a $50 grand prize was given by Sturdefant Drywall of Seymour.

Winners of the Apple Peeling Contest were:

Youth Division — 1. Cynthia Vlietstra, 59-5/8 inches. 2. Cash Clark, 7-5/8 inches. 3. Owen Bryant, 7 inches.

Adult division — 1. Brandon Frantz, 137-1/4 inches. 2. Josh Embrey, 121-1/2 inches. 3. Jessica Gould, 117-1/4 inches.

Winners of the Apple Baking Contest were:

Apple Seedling Division —1. Garrett Clark, pie bought in auction for $110 by Gary Sosniecki.

Jonathan Division — 1. Stan Coday, pie bought in auction for $210 by Kirk Penner. 2. Kevin Plain, pie bought in auction for $70 by Sonjia Capon.

Apple Blossom Division — 1. Ashli Coday, pie bought in auction for $130 by Dan Wehmer. 2. Alicia Laughlin, pie bought in auction for $250 by Janet Lamb. 3. Gaylene Chapman, pie bought in auction for $90 by Shawn Murphy.

Granny Smith Division — 1. Vonna Werle, pie bought in auction for $380 by Jeff Rowe; 2. Cheryl Rau, pie bought in auction for $210 by Jeff Rowe.

Bread & Cake Division — 1. Kaden Mingus, cake bought in auction for $240 by Julie Ervin. 2. Gaylene Chapman, cake bought in auction for $100 by Dan Wehmer. 3. Olivia Kyle, cake bought for $75 by Anna Sturdefant.

Jams & Jellies Division — 1. Jenny Coffee, entry bought in auction for $25 by Jarrit Lee. 2. Marilyn Mingus, entry bought in auction for $60 by Billy Hickey. 3. Tiffany Hughes, entry bought in auction for $25 by Garrett Rowe.

Grand Champion — Vonna Werle.

In the live action Saturday, the 14 winning entries raised $2,143. Volunteer auctioneers for the sale of winning entries were Dusty Capon, David Coutchie and Bob Crump.
