The second train-versus-car collision in southern Webster County occurred on April’s final day as a Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) locomotive hit a car on Porter Crossing Road just east of Rogersville.
Cpl. Timothy V. “Tim” Mosley of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said the 4:50 p.m. accident late last Friday afternoon occurred when a southbound 2015 Toyota Prius driven by 32-year-old Brian D. White of Fordland “stopped on the railroad tracks” and was struck by a westbound BNSF ES44AC locomotive driven by Jared L. McQueen, 47, of Springfield.
Mosley said a “crossbuck warning sign” was present at the railroad crossing.
White’s injuries were reported by the patrol as serious, and he was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
The report added that White wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
His car was removed from the accident scene by Yates Boys Towing of Seymour.
