The virus count continues to rise, albeit at a lower rate over the past month since the number of active COVID-19 cases in Webster County spiked at more than 200 in the middle of September.
Webster County’s number of active virus cases was at 61 on Monday, according to statistics released by the Webster County Health Unit.
That brings the total number of cases to 1,267 since the national pandemic was discovered in March.
It also marked the fourth consecutive week at the number of active cases remained stable after the aforementioned spikes of the virus in September and early October.
The previous week, there were 81 active cases.
The tally was 99 on Oct. 25, 92 on Oct. 18 and 107 cases on Oct. 11.
Prior to that, higher numbers of active COVID-19 cases were reported, as the total was 181 on Oct. 4 and a high of 215 on Sept. 20.
In the statistics released Monday, hospitalizations were at 59, up from 50 when last reported on Friday, Oct. 30.
The number of deaths climbed from 18 to 25 over the past week.
Marshfield, the county seat and most-populous city, leads the way in positive cases as that total hit 520, up from 471 as of the previous week.
Next is Fordland at 219, which saw its number of positive cases grow by 15.
Rogersville has 189 cases, a jump of only 11, while Seymour is next at 171 (up from 156).
Other communities and their total number of positive test results include Niangua at 72, Strafford at 40, Elkland at 31, Conway at 23, Diggins and Hartville at 1 each.
The age demographic of 30 to 39 has the highest number of cases at 215.
Other age categories in the county and their number of positive test results include:
• Ages 40 to 49, 209.
• Ages 50 to 59, 173.
• Ages 60 to 69, 164.
• Ages 20 to 29, 138.
• Ages 11 to 19, 117.
• Ages 70 to 79, 115.
• Ages 80 and up, 96.
• Ages birth to 10, 40.
The biggest spike in cases came in the ages 70 to 79 group, which rose from 88 to 115.
