This year’s live music at the historic Owen Theatre in downtown Seymour got underway when the “Isaac Kenneth Band” took the stage on Friday, March 11, for a two-hour performance at the venue located on the south side of the city square.

The band was the Owen’s opening act in 2019 before a near-full building.

“Isaac always puts on a great show, and he’s even better when he plays with his band,” noted Mike Borders, who with his wife, Debbie, are the Owen’s booking agents.

Just over two weeks later on Saturday, March 26, the next act takes the Owen’s stage as the “Wise Guys” band will play a two-hour show.

The band debuted at the Owen Theatre last fall to great fanfare.

Like the Isaac Kenneth Band’s performance, doors for the Wise Guys concert open at 6:15 p.m., with the show set to start at 7 p.m.

Two live events are set for April at the Owen.

On Saturday, April 9, the band “Turnbo Creek” will play, then on Friday, April 22, a gospel concert featuring “The Mark Mathes Family” is set.

Other concerts scheduled for later this year include performances by Molly Healey, “Psychobilly Cadillac,” “Stringed Union” and “Members Only,” a Springfield-based band that sells out shows on a regular basis.

It is anticipated that the Owen Theatre will have between 14 and 16 live-music shows this year.
