- 60 active virus cases in county

The number of active COVID-19 cases rose slightly last week from 54 to 63, according to statistics released Friday by the Webster County Health Unit in Marshfield.

“One more Webster County resident died from the virus,” noted Scott Allen, the health unit’s administrator.

“School cases have gone from six cases to 14 cases. The number of students in quarantine remains consistent at 15.”

Allen added that as of Friday, there were no reported cases in congregate living facilities, which includes nursing homes, prisons, etc.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic was discovered in the U.S. in March 2020, there have been 5,580 positive tests in Webster County. Of those, 5,418 have recovered, while the death toll stands at 102.

The number of county residents admitted to a hospital due to the virus is 239.

“State data reports that 27,737 doses of the vaccine have been administered to Webster County residents,” Allen said on Friday.

He added that 14,838 (37.5 percent) of county residents have initiated the vaccination, while 13,443 (34 percent) have completed the process.

The demographic with the highest vaccination percentage is senior citizens (age 65 and older) at 67.9 percent who are fully vaccinated.

Allen said 352 doses of the vaccine have been given to county residents over the past seven days.

Marshfield remains the Webster County city with the highest number of positive tests for COVID 19 at 2,489.

Next is Rogersville at 851, closely followed by Seymour at 836.

Fordland is fourth with 642 positive tests.

Other cities and communities in the county and their positive tests include Niangua at 302, Strafford at 198, Elkland at 127, Conway at 100 and Fair Grove at 32.

Within the age range of 20 through 59, there is little difference in the number of positive tests.

The age demographic in Webster County with the highest number of positive tests is between the ages of 50 and 59 with 880.

Next is ages 40 to 49 at 870.

Other age brackets and their number of positive tests for the virus include:

• Ages 30 to 39, 856.

• Ages 20 to 29, 830.

• Ages 60 to 69, 681.

• Ages 11 to 19, 580.

• Ages 70 to 79, 378.

• Ages 80 and up, 260.

• Ages birth to 10, 245.
