A 41-year-old woman employed by the Webster County Clerk’s Office in Marshfield tragically died in the early morning last Tuesday, Sept. 14, in a two-vehicle accident on Highway FF, about five miles northeast of Fordland, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Vanessa M. Medlin was eastbound on the state highway at 7:35 a.m. that morning in a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu car when a southbound 2017 Ford F-650 truck driven by Robert S. Blair, 64, of Fordland “failed to yield when entering the roadway from a private drive,” a patrol radio report said, noting that the investigating officers were Trooper Michael “Mike” Cary and Sgt. Scott R. Richardson of the patrol’s Major Crash Investigative Unit.
The report continued to say that Medlin’s car was struck broadside by Blair’s truck.
Webster County Deputy Coroner Wayne Plunkett pronounced Medlin deceased at 8:05 a.m., the patrol report concluded, adding that Blair was wearing his seatbelt, while Medlin was not.
Medlin’s body was taken to the Fraker Funeral Home in Marshfield.
Per the patrol report, Blair wasn’t injured.
