We are starting registration for the New Year’s Weight-Loss Challenge.

This is an eight-week challenge that starts on Jan. 17 and continues through March 13.

The first weigh in arrives next Thursday, Jan. 16.

Of other interest at the Seymour YMCA:

• Sign up now for our men’s 5-on-5 basketball league, which starts Feb. 1. Games will be played in our gymnasium on Saturdays and Sundays through March 28. All teams receive a nine-game guarantee. • Remember that our coed volleyball league also starts in February. Sign up your volleyball team now. Games will be played from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday nights. The first games arrive on Feb. 18.

• Time still remains to join the Sharks swim team. Register now. Boys and girls of all ages are encouraged to join.

• On the swimming front, sign up now for swim lessons. Lessons will be held on Mondays and Fridays for four weeks.

Water aerobics — Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.

Lap Club — Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Open swim — Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Sharks’ practice — Tuesday and Thursday, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Therapy pool — Open during regular business hours.

Sunday — 1 to 5 p.m.

We offer state-approved child care after school every day.
Child care also is available all day when school classes are canceled.
