The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) made an announcement Monday afternoon about the status of spring sports championships for its member schools.
They will continue.
“As of today, we are not canceling spring sport championships,” the MSHSAA news release said.
What about games?
In Seymour and at any school that has closed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, MSHSAA said, “If a school has determined that they are closing for a period of time due to the coronavirus, then no practices or games should occur during that time.”
Since Seymour’s schools closed today (Wednesday) and will remain closed until Monday, April 6, all Tiger teams will stay “benched,” so to speak, for the next two weeks.
“Correct, our teams will not practice or play any games until after April 6, and our athletes will have to get in the required 14 days of conditioning before they can compete,” Superintendent Steve Richards said.
“Every school in our area is facing the exact same situationright now. It’s not ideal, but we’ll work with it and see how things play out.”
