A variety of injuries left the Seymour junior-varsity boys' basketball team shorthanded in its season opener last Friday.

As a result, the Tigers of coach Will Austin went into action with only six players available.

By game's end, only four remained.

Seymour fell 56-35 to Chadwick in the home contest as sophomore guard Manny Gardea was the Tigers' leading scorer with 10 points.

Classmate Payton Bryant scored 9, junior foreign-exchange student Nicola Siligardi scored 8, while sophomore Bryson Benson and freshman Cooper Bunch each had 4 points.

Seymour trailed 20-8 after one quarter and 31-16 at halftime.

The Tigers cut the deficit to 31-24 early in the third frame, then foul troubles hurt the team.

Chadwick led 44-31 after three quarters.

The jayvee resumes play next Tuesday in road action at Cabool.
