- Carson and Helms sign to play college baseball

A pair of Seymour High School baseball standouts, Carson Sturdefant and Eric Helms, seated on the front row, signed earlier this summer to play college baseball this fall at North Arkansas Community College in Harrison, Ark.

The two former Tigers are first cousins and helped lead Seymour to its first-ever Class 2 district championship in May 2019 as the Tigers advanced to the Class 2 "Final Four" and finished second in the state.

Helms, a 2019 graduate of Seymour High School, was a three-time all-Summit Conference performer, earned all-district honors three times and was a Class 2 All-State first-team selection.

Sturdefant's resume is just as impressive, as he was a three-time selection to the all-Summit squad, a two-time pick on the all-district team and also was a Class 2 All-State first-teamer, despite his senior season this past spring being cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
