I remember the stories “GrampToad” (he gave me this tie) told me about how busy this street was when U.S. 60 ran right through Seymour.
Imagine all those DeSotos and Ramblers driving through town, filling up their tanks at George Loveland’s Standard Station and filling their bellies at the Skyline Café!
GrampToad said Seymour was so busy he barely could cross the street!
The smart highway folks in Jeff City thought it was too busy, so they moved U.S. 60 north of town and promised to build a nice, safe interchange at the north end of Main Street.
But that never happened.
Now, we have so many businesses along the highway that we need at least two interchanges!
Well, at least I can stand in the middle of “Old 60” now and not worry about getting run over!
