Funeral services for Ralph Frank Monteleone of Seymour were held Tuesday,Feb. 11, 2020, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour. Burial followed in the Day Chapel Cemetery south of Seymour, under the direction of the funeral home.
Mr. Monteleone, 87, died Saturday,Feb. 8, 2020.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1932, inSt. Charles, Ill., to Frank and Clarice Tuytschaevers Monteleone.
He was raised in the Catholic faith and graduated from St. Charles Community High School and the DeVry Institute in Chicago, Ill.
On Aug. 27, 1955, he married Barbara Jean Hofmann; to this union, five children were born.
In 1974, they moved from Little Woods in St. Charles, Ill., to their home in Seymour.
He enjoyed trail riding, announcing horse shows and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports and show horses. He rarely missed a home or away game during the 1990 to 1994 Seymour High School boys’ basketball seasons.
He belonged to Fox Valley Saddle Association, the South Central Horse Show Association and was a lifelong member of the Seymour Saddle Club.
He was a founding member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Ava. He was also involved with Little Woods 4-H Club, Hills & Hollers 4-H Club, Nemki Dance Group and the St. Charles Pow Wow.
He had worked at Romar Plastics in St. Charles, then Lucky Lumber in Missouri, before establishing his own business, Diggins Lumber, where he designed and built pole barns.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Barb; his brother, David Monteleone; his sister, Marilyn Monteleone Anderson; and his brother-in-law, Robert (Andy) Anderson.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Marcy and Dewey Turner, Rick and Tammy Monteleone, Laurie and Steve Kastning, Sandy and Stan Young, Mona Monteleone and Rich Lecinski, all of the state of Missouri; several grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Frank (Sonny) Monteleone and wife Bernice.
