Funeral services for George Aaron Pruett of Seymour were held Tuesday, May 21, 2019, in the Seymour Nazarene Church.
Burial followed in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour.
Mr. Pruett, 84, died Friday, May 17, 2019, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1935, in Dogwood to Alvah and Violet Mae Stafford Pruett.
He was raised in the Dogwood area.
In 1954, he and his brother, Bill, joined the U.S. Army at the same time, where they served their entire military time together, with part of that being in Germany for 18 months.
They both served until 1956.
On Dec. 24, 1966, he married Bonnie Lou Sissell.
He then worked for Hutchens Steel Industries in Marshfield and after that became a custodian for the Springfield R-12 School District, from where he retired after 20 years.
He attended the Seymour Nazarene Church and served as the church custodian and door greeter.
In his spare time, he loved going to church and reading his Bible, coon hunting, raising Walker hounds, gardening, working on and around the farm, picking up sticks and digging up rocks.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, Donna Coffer; his brothers, Paul, Johnny and David Pruett; and his sisters, Alice McCullough, Mary Williams, Nadine Barker and Goldie Bryant.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of the home; his son, Paul Aaron Pruett and wife Lessli of Seymour; his daughter, Susan Conley and husband Butch of Rogersville; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his brother, Bill Pruett and wife Edna of Nixa; and his stepbrother, Bee Lakey of Diggins.
