The final five of 12 three-light light posts to be installed in the Seymour Downtown Park at the center of the city square have arrived.
In June, seven of the lights arrived.
Five more arrived late last week.
Next up, they will be installed along the sidewalks leading to the gazebo at the center of the square.
City Administrator Hillary Gintz said the final five lights had been back ordered from the supplier.
“Once they are installed, it will add a lot of light to the park on the square,” she said.
“The board feels that once the new lights are in, it will add to the use of the park during evenings. I don’t think that there’s any doubt it will give the park a new look.”
Similar lights can be found at the Fordland City Park.
Since the lights are in, the city now is making its push for sponsors of the lightposts, which is a one-time, permanent sponsorship free.
Cost is $400 to sponsor a lightpost.
A plaque listing the post’s sponsor will be mounted once
it is installed.
To sponsor a lightpost, contact Seymour City Hall at 417-935-4401.
When the lights are installed, they will be powder coated black and include three globe-style lights at the top, providing LED light. On each of the four sidewalks leading to the gazebo, three lights will line the way.
