This week, several businesses in Seymour and the surrounding area have received calls asking them to sponsor tickets for an April 5 circus sponsored by the Seymour Lions Club.

The calls are legitimate, explained Bob Crump of the Seymour Lions Club.

Coming to town for two shows are the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus set for 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. that afternoon, which is a Sunday. The circus will be held on the grounds of the Seymour Safe Room.

All funds raised from the circus will be used for community-service projects.

As part of the promotion for the event, telemarketers are calling local businesses to sell children/senior circus tickets. The cost is $7 per ticket and they will be delivered to the businesses within the next two to three weeks.

Businesses have the option to keep the tickets or donate them back to the local club, which will give them to schools or the Seymour Senior Citizens' Center.
