A 65-year-old Seymour woman is dead after an accident involving her and a John Deere "Gator" utility vehicle.
Trooper Zach Dudley of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in his radio report that Rebecca S. Tavares was westbound in her 2012 John Deere Gator in a field on her farm south of Seymour when "the front passenger tire struck a fence post and the vehicle overturned."
Tavares' body was discovered at 8:49 a.m. on Monday morning.
"(She) was ejected and was trapped under the vehicle," Dudley's report said.
She was pronounced dead at 9:44 a.m. Monday by Webster County Deputy Coroner Robby Jernigan, the report added.
The accident occurred about one mile south of Seymour along Highway BB.
Tavares' body was taken to the Holden Funeral Home in Sparta. There was no damage to the John Deere Gator, the report concluded.
She and her husband, Bob, are known in the Seymour community for their many years of work with the Southern Webster County Food Pantry, which Bob Tavares previously served as the facility's director.
