Before the annual Seymour Christmas Parade steps off at 5:30 p.m. next Saturday, Dec. 7, there are a wide variety of activities taking place before and after the parade.
Starting at 3 p.m. that afternoon, students from the Youth Empowerment Project (Y.E.P.) at Seymour High School will be serving beans and cornbread in front of Renne's Place on the east side of the city square.
Cost to eat is a donation.
Kettle corn also will be sold on the square for a few hours before the parade.
The parade's lineup begins at 4:30 p.m., then it steps off an hour later, ending around 6 p.m.
After the parade, attendees are asked to go to the historic Owen Theatre on the south side of the square, where the Cub Choir from the Seymour Elementary School will perform, followed by the jazz band from Seymour High School.
Float prizes will be awarded at the Owen.
In addition, Santa Claus will visit with all children after the parade at the Owen, as he will hear about their Christmas lists.
There is no cost to attend any and all events at the Owen that evening.
