It was a thing of beauty traveling through the night.
It thrilled little boys and girls, as well as adults.
It was such a magical sight.
It last happened in Seymour 23 years ago.
It was the “Santa Claus Express,” a train decorated for Christmas stops at communities across the Ozarks, displaying lights, music and fun.
This week, a display opens at the School Moms’ Museum & Gallery on West Market Street in Seymour featuring the Santa Claus Express, which was operated by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad company.
Pictures are on display.
There is a DVD to watch.
Regular hours at the museum are from 1 to 4 p.m. on Fridays and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
This Saturday evening, during the annual Seymour Christmas Parade, the museum is open for extended hours from 1 to 7 p.m., featuring displays on toy train sets, train photographs and a free Christmas stocking for each child who attends that day.
