As I was roaming around the city of Seymour last Thursday afternoon, checking out the local goings-on, I stumbled upon this scene, as the big wigs from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) were stomping all over my pal Dean Rowe’s property at the old Skyline Cafe site.
It looks like they’re digging for oil, but not the way ol’ Jed Clampett did ... looks like they’re still hunting for the mysterious source of gasoline that is running up the sewer lines on Frances Street.
It got me to thinking that I want one of these DNR jobs.
Working for them would be like getting paid to participate in an Easteregg hunt, minus finding any eggs.
They’ve been hunting for this magical gas leak for quite some time, yet the city still has no answers.
I’m beginning to believe they need to take the Jed Clampett approach.
Instead of drilling holes in the ground and city streets, just take a shotgun, start shooting the ground, and maybe up will come some bubbling crude ... oil, that is, “Texas Tea.”
