Grady Bennett, a lifelong Seymour resident who works for the Se-Ma-No Electric Cooperative in Mansfield, will serve as the general chairman of the Seymour Apple Festival in 2020.
At its final meeting of 2019 in November, members of the Seymour Merchants' Association, the festival's sponsor, selected Bennett to renew the tradition of general chairman.
Last week, he agreed to fill the role.
In recent years, Bennett has led the festival booth that sells apple slushes, apple pies and ice cream.
He now will lead the 2020 festival, which will be the 48th version of the annual event.
This year's festival arrives Sept. 10, Sept. 11 and Sept. 12.
A wide variety of festival merchandise already is on sale at three locations on the Seymour square, Circle K Trading Post, Renne's Place and the Webster County Citizen, including short- and long-sleeved T-shirt, blankets, cooking aprons and custom drink mugs.
The next meeting of the Seymour Merchants' Association arrives at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Seymour Community Library's meeting room on Business 60.
