Band uniform fundraiser in 1970s held by civic leaders

Pictured above are the game's six cheerleaders, from left, Dr. Louis "Doc" Tochen, a longtime Seymour veterinarian; Chuck Lahm, who worked for the city of Seymour; Harry Jennings (in wheelchair), who managed Seymour's Carnation plant; Bill Jacopian and Cyrus "Puss" Heckendorn, cattle farmers; and Joel Norris, owner of Norris Auto Parts and Norris Hardware.

When the Seymour High School band needed new uniforms in the 1970s, local civic leaders sprung into action as a basketball game between Seymour's merchants and school faculty was held as a fundraiser.

The best news from the event was that enough proceeds were raised to buy the band uniforms.
